Herbs contain both water and alcohol-soluble constituents. Therefore, the most effective extracting fluid (called the "menstruum") is grain alcohol diluted with distilled water. We use only certified organic, pure grain alcohol for our herbal tinctures. The majority of our tinctures are made from plants that are freshly harvested here at Great Cape Herb Farm.
